As one of the top Jacksonville and Ponte Vedra private elementary schools, Beaches Episcopal School can offer many advanced education programs that traditional Jacksonville elementary schools typically cannot. Spanish is very dynamic program for pre-kindergarten through sixth grade students that puts an emphasis on a communicative approach. A multi-sensory presentation of the material includes the use of books, puppetry, dramatizations, games, videos and singing. The Spanish teacher provides supplementary curriculum materials, along with a developed curriculum, for each grade level to help expose students to the Spanish language and culture.
The Beaches Episcopal School Library is home to over 10,000 books, VHS/DVDs, magazines, and reference materials. Our teachers communicate with the librarian what topics or themes they will be covering so integration of those topics is possible. The librarian teaches research and library skills, and exposes pre-kindergarten through sixth grade students to a wide variety of literature.
Accelerated Reader titles are available in the library’s collection to match quizzes the school has purchased. Emphasis is placed on reading both for information and for pleasure.
Our new web-based library catalog system has some improved features such as color pictures of the books, detailed descriptions, and reviews from School Library Journal and Booklist. The abundant information available via the catalog allows students to make better educated choices about which book they want to read next.
Using the catalog at home is simple. Log on to the BES page for Destiny Quest, https://bes.follettdestiny.com, and then select our school by clicking the blue link. This takes you to the homepage.
