Frequently Asked Questions
What is Development?
The Development Office’s primary goal is to advance Beaches Episcopal School through fundraising, promoting and encouraging relationships between parents, grandparents, alumni, and special friends of the school.
What is The Starfish Fund?
The Starfish Fund (Annual Giving Campaign) is one of the most critical fundraisers at Beaches Episcopal School and supplements the school’s budget to bridge the gap between tuition and the overall operating expenses. Contributions come from parents, grandparents, faculty, staff, trustees, and alumni and are payable by the end of the academic year. The importance of the Annual Giving Campaign cannot be underestimated.
I support other school fundraisers as well as volunteer, should I still contribute to The Starfish Fund?
Absolutely! The support of our parents and constituents is vital when seeking additional support through grants and foundations. These organizations consider the percentage of parental participation to annual giving a reflection of the quality of a BES education and our commitment to our mission.
How much should I be expected to give?
Beaches Episcopal School appreciates all gifts equally and values your support whatever the amount. The fact that parents faithfully give, at any level, demonstrates your belief in the mission and education of BES.
Is my gift tax deductible?
Yes. Beaches Episcopal School is a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) organization; Tax ID #59-7065911. Please discuss with your financial advisor any and all donations.
What are matching gifts?
Matching gifts are a wonderful opportunity for you to double your donations. Many companies offer varying levels of corporate matching for their employees’ charitable interests. Please check if your employer has a matching gift program.
Where do my donation dollars go?
All contributions are put directly into Beaches Episcopal School’s operating budget. Your donations bridge the gap between tuition revenue and the overall operating expenses of the day to day running of the school.
What is a Capital Campaign?
Capital Campaigns are conducted periodically, not annually, and are for the purpose of growth either through the construction of new facilities or major renovations to the existing one. These campaigns require larger amounts of financial support and are usually pledged over a 3-5 year time period.
