Beaches Episcopal School has a full calendar of events and programs designed to make our school the best it can be. Our parents and grandparents are so generous with their time and energy - but we always have room for more helping hands.
Ambassador Program: BES wants every family member to feel welcomed to our community. This program allows for new families to be matched with a family that is already familiar with our campus and school community. A handbook is provided with tips on how to make this program a success.
Annual Giving Representative: Each classroom will need a volunteer who will assist the Chair of Annual Giving to contact parents to build enthusiasm and encourage each family to participate in the Annual Giving Campaign.
Annual Social and Silent Auction: (March 2, 2012) Do you know how to throw a great party? This is a festive occasion for our parents and friends of the school to get together for dinner and fun.
Art Needs: Volunteers are needed throughout the year to help change out the art work along with other needs that arise from the art department.
BES Golf Classic: (November 14, 2011) The BES Golf Classic is a day of fun on the course to help raise money for our students. Committee members are needed to help with the organization and operation of the tournament.
Book Fair: (November 2011) Volunteers are needed to staff the Annual Book Fair, during which parents and students purchase books. This is one of the students' favorite events.
Box Tops for Education: (Fall and Spring) BES students turn in their box tops for the school to receive funds from the manufacturers of grocery products. Committee members are needed to help count box tops.
Community Outreach: BES is involved in many traditional community outreach projects annually, with a few new ones added each year. Projects like Thanksgiving baskets, Christmas stockings, Easter basket fillings and “Pasta for Pennies” are some of the traditional outreach ministries.
Desk Coverage: Cover the front desk every Monday morning while the BES Staff is having a meeting. Meetings usually last no more than two hours.
Enrichments: Volunteers will be needed throughout the year in all of the enrichment classes. Please indicate if you are interested in helping with these projects.
Fall Festival: (October 2011) Coordinate this carnival-style festival that is held every other year. It takes place during school hours and fun games are set up in the Parish Hall with some additional outside activities.
Fall Fundraiser: (September 2011) PSO responsibilities include distributing packets to students, awarding prizes during the sale, collecting funds and coordinating the distribution of products.
FUNd RUN Event: (March 30, 2012) BES is thinking healthy and will be holding a fundraising event where the children will be running laps to raise money for the Teacher Wish List and other PSO programs.
Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day: (October 10, 2011) Grandparents’/Special Friends’ Day is held every October over a long weekend, incorporating the BES Barbecue. The Development office will work with the coordinator and committee of volunteers to help oversee the event.
Homebase Parent: Each homebase classroom needs a representative to assist the teacher in special classroom activities. This position is responsible for communicating with the parents about the school and PSO regarding special events and campus happenings. A homebase parent will communicate via email regularly. Homebase parents for classrooms will be appointed in August.
Hospitality: (as needed) Coordinate light refreshments for various events throughout the year that are sponsored by the PSO, Admissions and Development Office.
Hot Lunch: BES parents support the lunch program made available to our children from Wholesome Tummies. We need four (4) parents for each day of the school year to assist in the distribution of lunches.
Landscape: Four (4) to six (6) times during the year, BES parents plant annuals to beautify the campus.
Monthly Fish Tank: Our beautiful fish tank in the Stormes Hall Lobby needs a sponsor each month to cover the costs ($90.00) for the maintenance of the tank and its inhabitants. Your sponsorship, along with a picture of your child is displayed above the tank, thanking you for your generosity. Sponsor fees are due at the time of commitment.
Red Ribbon Week: (October 2011) Each year BES encourages our students to be drug free with a week full of activities. Committee members select and distribute positive reminders like pencils and bracelets.
Teacher Appreciation Luncheon: (May 3, 2012) The annual May luncheon thanks our teachers and staff for their work during the school year.
Yearbook: BES celebrates each year with a fantastic yearbook. We work with Lifetouch Company and they provide instructions on how it is done.
