Beaches Episcopal School has a full calendar of events and programs designed to make our school the best it can be. Our parents and grandparents are so generous with their time and energy - but we always have room for more helping hands.
Hospitality Committee: (as needed) Committee oversees and executes planning of all special events sponsored by the PSO or Admissions office that require food and beverage and/or special decorating. The coordinator and committee members will help in this way with a variety of special meetings, receptions, open houses, etc...
Ambassador Program: BES wants every family member to feel welcomed to our community. This program allows for new families to be matched with a family that is already familiar with our campus and school community. A handbook is provided with tips on how to make this program a success.
Homebase Parent: Each homebase classroom needs a representative to assist the teachers in special classroom activities. This position is responsible for communicating with the parents about the school and PSO regarding special events and campus happenings. A homebase parent will communicate via email regularly. Homebase parents for each classroom will be appointed in August.
Hot Lunch: BES parents support the lunch program made available to our children from various local vendors. We need four (4) parents for each day of the school year to assist in the distribution of lunches. This is a fun opportunity to help and see your children during the school day.
Community Outreach Committee: BES is involved in many traditional community outreach projects annually and a few new ones are added each year. Projects like Thanksgiving baskets, Christmas stockings, Easter basket fillings and “Pasta for Pennies” are a few of the traditional outreach ministries.
Landscape: Four (4) to six (6) times during the year, BES parents plant annuals to beautify the campus.
Fall Fundraiser: (September) PSO responsibilities include distributing packets to students, awarding prizes during the sale, collecting funds and coordinating the distribution of products when they arrive 6 to 8 weeks later.
Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day: (October 4, 2010) Grandparents’/Special Friends’ Day is held every October over a long weekend, incorporating the BES Barbecue. The Development office will work with the coordinator and committee of volunteers to help oversee the event.
Annual Social and Silent Auction: (March 4, 2011) This is a festive occasion for our parents and friends of the school to get together for dinner and fun. The time commitment is about 10 months, minimally at the beginning and increasing as the event nears.
Teacher Appreciation Luncheon: (May 5, 2011) The annual May luncheon thanks our teachers and staff for their work during the school year.
Yearbook: BES celebrates each year with a fantastic yearbook. If picture taking and organizing photos is your knack, please sign-up. We work with Lifetouch Company and they provide instructions on how it is done.
Enrichments: Volunteers will be needed throughout the year in all of the enrichment classes. Please indicate if you are interested in helping with these projects.
Book Fair volunteer: (November) Volunteers are needed to staff the Annual Book Fair, during which parents and students purchase books and is one of the students' favorite events. This is done in conjunction with the Spaghetti Dinner.
Monthly Fish Tank: Our beautiful fish tank in the Stormes Hall Lobby needs a sponsor each month to cover the costs ($90.00) for the maintenance of the tank and its inhabitants. Your sponsorship, along with a picture of your child is displayed above the tank, thanking you for your generosity. Sponsor fees are due at the time of commitment.
FUNd RUN Event: (May 6, 2011) BES is thinking healthy and will be holding a fundraising event where the children will be running laps to raise money for the Teacher Wish List and other PSO programs.
Sixth Grade School Store: Our 6th graders enjoy the experience of purchasing the inventory, displaying the merchandise, marketing the items and selling the products in their weekly school store. Procedures have been established to help coordinate this activity. Sixth (6th) grade parents only.
BES Golf Classic: (November 1, 2010) The BES Golf Classic is a day of fun on the course to help raise money for the school’s operating budget. Chairperson and committee members are needed to help with the organization and operation of the tournament.
Red Ribbon Week: (October) Each year BES encourages our students to be drug free with a week full of activities. Committee members select and distribute positive reminders like pencils and bracelets.
Box Tops for Education: (Fall and Spring) BES students turn in their box tops for the school to receive funds from the manufacturers of grocery products.
