Important Information from ESJ and BES

Dear BES Parents:

As we continue to discuss all aspects of merging BES with Episcopal so that both campuses are ready to become one school on July 1, 2020, we understand one of the biggest questions parents currently have relates to the sixth grade. We believe the best decision for our students and our school communities is to move the sixth grade class to Episcopal School of Jacksonville’s Middle School/Upper School campus for the 2021-2022 school year. This means current fourth grade students at Beaches Episcopal School would be the first class to attend sixth grade on the Middle School/Upper School campus. The current fifth grade class will be the last to graduate from sixth grade on the beaches campus in the spring of 2021.

Since BES and ESJ signed the final agreement to proceed with the merger, this movement of sixth grade has been discussed and reviewed as thoroughly as possible to ensure the right decision is made for all of our students and their families as well as our faculty and staff. We believe moving sixth grade for the 2021-2022 school year gives families time to plan for their child’s sixth grade year while at the same time completing the move in a timeframe that remains beneficial to all. Our administration will have time to plan for use of space and our teachers and staff for the transition of students.

We would like to invite BES parents to attend the following event to help with this transition: October 14, 8:15 a.m. – Coffee Q&A in the BES Music Room with The Rev. Adam Greene, Head of School at Episcopal.

This will be geared toward third, fourth, and fifth grade families, since they are closest to approaching sixth grade, but all BES parents are welcome to attend. We welcome your questions and appreciate your patience as we work to make this transition to one school as seamless as possible for our children.

Sincerely,

The Rev. Adam Greene
Head of School Episcopal School of Jacksonville
