Important Message from BES and ESJ about Merger, FAQ
I am hopeful all of you are settled into the school year now that we are rapidly approaching the end of the first trimester. In the midst of this busy time, I want to assure you that leadership at Beaches Episcopal and Episcopal School of Jacksonville are working very hard to make our upcoming merger as smooth and successful as possible. Some of you have already started to see ESJ resources applied at BES, such as our students utilizing ESJ transportation for field trips or participating in athletic clinics coached by ESJ staff. We expect we will see even more support from ESJ throughout the balance of the school year.
We understand there are many questions and some uncertainty as we embark on this exciting and historical transformation. Administrators at ESJ and BES have compiled a list of Frequently Asked Questions and provided answers, which can be read here. As the schools progress in their integration plans, they will communicate with us proactively and will remain available to respond to your questions. In the meantime, please know that both schools are approaching every decision that relates to integration in a thoughtful manner, with the highest respect for BES’s culture, ethos, and traditions. Many of you were able to hear The Rev. Adam Greene speak recently at BES where he shared how special our school is and how prepared BES students are for ESJ. While we do expect some change to occur as a result of the merger, it is exciting to hear ESJ representatives speak so highly of our school and to know that all aspects of our school will only be enhanced as we join the ESJ family.
I encourage you to reach out directly to our Interim Head of School, Jennifer Ketchum, or me if you have any feedback, concerns, or questions. Thank you for your support of our wonderful school that enriches the lives of our students daily.
